Do you believe in Karma?

What about Karma Marketing?

Nui Sirikul Laukaikul says Karma Marketing is, actually, Mindful Marketing. Mindfulness is awareness of the action and its consequences toward other living souls. Karma Marketing is, thus, the practice of marketing that cares about the consequences and the impact. A practice that reminds marketing practitioners not to take anything short-term or for granted:

“Everything in life has a footprint, and good marketing will bring good karma to the brand. What goes around, comes around. The minute Marketing starts to be mindful, they will help bring good karma for society as a whole.”

Nui promotes Thai King Bhumibhol’s concept of Sufficiency Economy: “Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) is not limited to the practice of marketing; it’s the master mindset that every soul should have.” The basis of SEP is “Moderation” or The Middle Path. For regeneration to happen, we must first “learn how to control our greed, then learn how to share, and understand the importance of inclusiveness”.

After attending a Sustainable Brands conference in San Diego, Nui left motivated and inspired, and asked herself, “Why not Thailand?”. This is how she became the creator of the SB Thailand, promoting the importance of holistic thinking and the Buddhist mindset while helping people of Asia tap into their own indigenous heritage, culture and wisdom:

“We don’t teach our new generation enough about history, legacy and Asian wisdom. The generation today is bombarded by the global media. They don’t have time to digest it. People are becoming more like robots. They are acting the same and thinking the same and they call it globalization.”

With a background ranging from corporate branding to creative and strategic thinking, she is the author of Build Brand and Sufficiency Branding, Sustainable Brand pocketbooks, and a special lecturer for Chulalongkorn University and Bangkok University.

She established her own consulting firm, The Brandbeing, and initiated a program that has become the essence of her life: “PorLaewDee”, which means “Enough is Good”. It aims to help young entrepreneurs conduct “good enough” business, because “companies that don’t know when is enough will never know ‘when to give”.
